Rick is the Bioinformatics specialist at the Purdue genomics facility. The word "Bioinformatics" covers much ground -- genomics, proteomics, metabolics, and so on. Rick's part is the merging of DNA/RNA sequence information with computers. Perl is a useful language in Bioinformatics because of the ease of string manipulation.
